Richard's new release takes us on a reflective, emotional and spiritual journey, giving us a more ethereal and lighter side to his musical expression. All vocals and mostly all instruments are played by Richard on Violet Fire. The EP also features legendary artist and percussionist Ayi Solomon and the sensational Carolyn Goodwin(also from Ireland) on clarinet on 'I Only Want To Be Love’. Soul groover, Lars Heiberg Andersen, features on drums in 'Spirit Guides and percussion in the title track of the EP, Violet Fire.'. The EP will be released on CD and online. Below the picture are links to the EP via Soundcloud and also a link via Googledrive. The photos and album cover are designed by Rosamai Liliet. The Artwork on the cover is a creation of Jewel Pickard.
There is something more behind our thoughts, words and actions. There is magic behind the scenes, it is always available to us if we open up to the call. Finding the stillness of mind and place to let this magic seep into the soul is difficult, especially in these hectic modern times. This is the essence of this EP. It is a celebration of healing, nature, forgiveness, guides, helpers and most of all, Love. Gifted from the unknown, captured in the forest and recorded in the wee hours.
Violet Fire was the first song that brought this EP into being, it was a call for love and healing. The message of this song connected me to my soon to be wife, Rosamai, thank you Juvel Heiberg for playing your part!
Purple and Blue was written in the Forests of the Black Mountains of southern France and recorded close by at La Muse Retreat in Labastide Esparbaïrenque. Spirit Guides and I Only Want To Be Love were also written and recorded at La Muse too with some overdubs done at Strandgaarden, Lolland by drummer Lars Heiberg Andersen and at Mariendalsvej in Copenhagen by percussionist Ayi Solomon and clarinetist, Carolyn Goodwin.
Finally, Little Finger and Poison Leaves are both recorded in our forest dwelling a few hours before before dawn after a deep evening of healing and introspection. There was no preparation, the music came out as it did, it’s raw and rough, but honest.
I hope you enjoy the journey.
